A view-exchange meeting on community policing and tenant verification form distribution was held on Tuesday at  Government Dohar-Nawabganj College premises in Nawabganj, Dhaka, aiming to bolster public safety and curb regional crime.

Organized by the Nawabganj Community Police under Dhaka District Police, the program commenced at 10:00 AM under the chairmanship of Dhaka District Superintendent of Police  Shamima Parveen. Member of Parliament for Dhaka-1 Khondokar Abu Ashfaq attended the event as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, SP Shamima Parveen highlighted community policing as a vital platform for building trust and coordination between law enforcement and citizens to prevent narcotics trade, terrorism, juvenile gang activities, theft, and mugging. Describing drug addiction as a social disease destroying the youth, she stated that law enforcement drives alone cannot eradicate the menace without proactive parental monitoring and community-wide resistance. She urged house owners, local representatives, teachers, and religious leaders to keep vigilant watch over neighborhood activities and immediately report suspicious individuals or illicit dealings to the police.

As part of security measures, standardized tenant information forms were distributed among local house owners to ensure systematic registration of residents across the upazila.

The event was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Traffic - South) Tarikul Islam, community policing members, local elected representatives, property owners, and community leaders.
