Road collapse in Betagi Ward No. 1: Rick of accidents, residents urge urgent repairs
Barguna Correspondent
A severe soil erosion under the main road in front of Sobahan Member’s residence in Ward No. 1 of Betagi Municipality under Barguna district has created significant structural hazards, placing local commuters at risk of accidents.
The road collapse has disrupted safe vehicular movement for residents traveling between Jhopkhali, Uttar Betagi, and Ward No. 1 of the municipality.
Local residents alleged that heavy multi-wheelers (Mahindras) transporting construction materials—including heavy stones, sand, and cement bags intended for riverbank embankment block casting—caused severe damage to the road's sub-base layer, causing the top surface to cave in.
Commuters and residents warned that without immediate structural repairs and reinforcement, major fatal accidents could occur at any moment.
They called upon the Betagi Municipal Authorities to urgently inspect the damaged stretch, place warning signboards, and undertake immediate repair works to restore safe transport links across the area.
