People deprived of medical services at Sundarganj Health Complex.
Due to the lack of X-ray machines and gynecologists in the Sundarganj Upazila Health Complex, the residents of the upazila have been deprived of medical services for a long time.
Sundarganj is the largest upazila in Gaibandha district. This upazila, consisting of 15 unions and a municipality, has a population of more than seven lakh people. Most of the people here are victims of river erosion and take shelter on embankment roads and private land and earn a living by driving rickshaws, vans and autos.
The only medical center for these people is the Sundarganj Health Complex. The people here have been deprived of medical services for a long time due to the lack of X-ray machines and gynecologists. Since the health center does not have X-ray and Caesarean sections, the poor people of the area are running around in despair due to lack of funds for X-ray examinations and treatment.
On the other hand, since there are no gynecologists, the Caesarean sections are not being carried out for a long time. Caesarean section is expensive, poor and lower class people are unable to take their patients to Rangpur or any other clinic, which results in a lot of preparation and premature death of children, said Sohag, adding that the operation theatre is being wasted due to the lack of X-ray machine doctors and the closure of Caesarean section.
Upazila Health, Family and Planning Officer Kamrul Hasan said that I have informed the higher authorities and the MP several times about this and have been allocated a China X-ray machine. Once the machine is delivered, X-ray and Caesarean section will be started, and I hope that the local people will get a lot of money and benefit from it.
