International Right to Information Day celebrated in Joypurhat

International Right to Information Day 2026 was celebrated in Joypurhat with the theme "Ensuring accurate information in the digital age: The role of the right to information in preventing misinformation".
A discussion meeting was held on this occasion on Monday morning at the initiative of the district administration in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner.
In his speech as the chief guest and chairman of the discussion meeting, Deputy Commissioner Al Mamun Mia said that in Digital Bangladesh, it is possible to eliminate misinformation and rumors from society through proper implementation of the Right to Information Act and ensuring accurate information.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Jasmine Nahar, Joypurhat Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Mahmudul Hasan, District BNP Convener Golzar Hossain, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Deputy Commissioner's Office Tanvir Ul Alam, Joypurhat Press Club President Abu Bakkar Siddique, General Secretary Shamim Qadir, and journalist Al Mamun, among other dignitaries, spoke as special guests at the meeting.
The speakers emphasized the importance of ensuring the free flow of information and raising awareness to prevent misinformation. District administration officials, journalists, and representatives of civil society were present at the event.
