India repatriates 22 Bangladeshis including teenage girl, thru' Tamabil border in Sylhet

Twenty-two Bangladeshi citizens, including five women, have returned to the country after being detained by Indian law enforcement for illegally entering India and serving various sentences.
 
On Friday (August 8) at  around 4:00 PM, India repatriated these 22 Bangladeshi citizens through the Tamabil Immigration Checkpost in Gowainghat Upazila, in the presence of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB).
 
The matter was confirmed by Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Shamim Mia, the in-charge of Tamabil Immigration Police.
 
According to Tamabil Immigration Police and BGB, the 22 Bangladeshi citizens were detained by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian police at various times for illegally crossing the border into India. They were subsequently presented before a court, which ordered their imprisonment.
 
After completing their sentences in Tura Jail in the West Garo Hills district of India’s Meghalaya state, the Bangladeshi authorities’ request led to the Indian immigration authorities handing them over to Bangladesh Immigration in the presence of BGB and BSF. After serving several months in jail, they returned to Bangladesh through Tamabil on Friday.
 
SI Shamim Mia, in-charge of Tamabil Immigration Police in Sylhet, saud, the 22 Bangladeshi citizens were repatriated through the immigration police of both countries and BSF-BGB. After completing the legal process, they were handed over to their relatives.
