Human chain demanding arrest for beating SSC examinee in Jamalpur

A protest march and human chain were held protesting the beating and injury of SSC examinee Monir Hossain of Sadhupur Jamsher Ali Munshi High School in the Melandaha upazila in Jamalpur on Wednesday noon.
Teachers, students, managing committee and local people organized it. Police arrested the accused, Abdullah Al Mamun, in this incident.
The protest procession left Sadhupur Jamsher Ali Munshi High School grounds and circled Char Road. During an hour-long human chain on Sadhupur-5no Char Sadar Road. they demanding arrested and trial of the other attackers.
JM High School teachers Rakibul Islam Masud, Tarique Rahman, Managing Committee Member M.A. Jalil Member, UP Member Samiul Islam, students Parvez, Karimul Islam, Shanto, Nupur Akhter, Ashek Mahmud, Jewel Mia, injured Monir's father Zahurul Islam Khalifa, sister Smriti Akhter, aunt Jamiron, Nayanagar Union Tati Dal president Aminur Islam among others spoke.
It is mentioned that on the morning of March 8, a heated argument broke out between Abdullah Al Mamun (35), son of Mofazzal Khalifa of Sadhupur Tikadarpara, and Manik Khalifa (37), son of his own clan, over the collection of money owed to him.
That night, two nephews of Manik Khalifa, SSC examinees Monir Hossain (16) and Parvez (15), went to Shafiullah's house to recharge their mobile phones. After they went to the mosque to prayer tarabih salat.
In anger, on their way to the mosque Abdullah Al Mamun and his men beat them up severely. At one stage, they hit S.S.C. examinee Monir Hossain with a brick and hit his head. Upon receiving the news, Monir's mother Monowara Begum (45) came forward and beat her up too. In this situation, 6 more people were injured.
Among them, the injured Monir Hossain has been admitted to Mymensingh Medical Hospital in critical condition and his mother Monowara Begum has been admitted to Jamalpur Medical College Hospital. Since the incident, people from Abdullah Al Mamun's side have fled their homes.
OC of Melandaha police station Shafiqul Islam said that, a case has been filed at Melandaha Police Station in this incident. The main accused, Abdullah Al Mamun, has been arrested from Jamalpur town.
