Four underprivileged individuals in Nababganj get aid after applying via ‘Hello DC’ App

Staff Correspondent

Four underprivileged residents of Nababganj upazila, including two widowed women, a heart patient, and a needy student, received financial assistance and sewing machines after applying through the Dhaka District Administration’s digital citizen service platform, ‘Hello DC’.

Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka, Farida Khanam, personally visited Nababganj on Tuesday to hand over the assistance packages to the beneficiaries.

The ‘Hello DC’ mobile application was introduced by the Dhaka District Administration to simplify public services and swiftly deliver government assistance to marginalized communities. Through the app, citizens can directly submit applications detailing their hardships, which are subsequently verified by officials to select eligible candidates.
Among the recipients was Lili Begum from Baruakhali Union, who had been facing severe economic hardship while raising her daughter following her husband's death four years ago. Seeking a sustainable livelihood, she applied for a sewing machine through the app and was granted one.
Sumon Saha, an honors student at Nababganj College from Kalakopa Union, received financial aid to support his education due to his family's financial distress. Similarly, Sheikh Kazim Uddin of Koilail Union received medical financial aid for his heart condition, while Jamuna Mondal, a widow from Agla Union who works as domestic help, was provided support to help sustain her family.

Expressing her gratitude, Lili Begum shared that the sewing machine would enable her to become self-reliant and build a better future for her daughter, adding that she was deeply moved by the Deputy Commissioner personally delivering the aid.
Speaking on the initiative, Dhaka DC Farida Khanam highlighted that the 'Hello DC' app aims to make government services accessible, prompt, and transparent.

She reaffirmed the administration's commitment to standing by vulnerable individuals, sick citizens, and underprivileged meritorious students through continuous support efforts.
