Discussion, view exchange with media personnel in Madaripur to ensure fair elections

Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections, a discussion and exchange of views was held in Madaripur on various important issues, including the role of the media in making the elections fair, peaceful and acceptable, voter participation and journalists' access to polling stations.
This exchange of views was organized with media workers working in the district and upazila at 10:30 am on Thursday in the hall room of the Madaripur District Government Complex.
Madaripur Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md. Jahangir Alam was present as the chief guest in the meeting. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Mir Monir Hossain, Company Commander RAB-8, CPC-3, Madaripur Wadia Shabab, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shamim Ahmad, Upazila Election Officer and senior officials of the administration were present as special guests.
Representatives from various national and local media were also present:
BSS, News 24, Bangladesh Pratidin district correspondent Billal Rizvi; Bangladesh Betar district correspondent Mahbubur Rahman Badal; Daily Soyom district correspondent Arafat Rahman; Madaripur District Journalists Union president and The Asian Age correspondent Sabbir Ahmed Aziz; Madaripur correspondent of Daily Ajker Darpan and Dhaka Today Mir Imran, along with more than a hundred media workers from Madaripur Sadar, Shibchar, Rajoir and Kalkini upazilas.
The meeting discussed important issues including the role of the media in ensuring fair elections, limits and guidelines for journalists' entry into polling stations, security in news gathering, cooperation with the administration at the field level, and adherence to the election code of conduct.
The District Commissioner said, the media plays an important role in a transparent and peaceful election process. The administration will provide maximum cooperation to ensure the safety of journalists.
Participating journalists also raised various issues related to ensuring freedom, security, and access to information in news gathering.
The discussion expressed the determination to organize a fair, impartial, and acceptable election through coordinated cooperation between the media and the administration.
