Adhir Barua gets Peace and Humanity Award for his unique contribution to journalism, social works

Adhir Barua, a reporter for Dainik Bir Chattogram Mancha, former general secretary and president of Boalkhali Press Club, the main founder and entrepreneur of Boalkhali Sammilit Buddhist Parishad and organizer of various organizations, received the "Peace and Humanity Award 2026" for his unique contribution to journalism and social work at the Buddha Purnima Peace & Humanity Award 2026" award ceremony on the occasion of the International Buddhist Conference and the celebration of Buddha Purnima. 
 
 In the light of various programs throughout the day on May 9, a program was held at the premises of Kadhurkhil Marjin Bihar under Boalkhali Municipality in Chattogram district and organized by the Vesak Day or Shubh Buddha Purnima Celebration Committee with the involvement of representatives of 3 South Korean-Myanmar international organizations for the purpose of humanity under the chairmanship of Bhadanta Sharansen Mahasthavira, General Secretary of Purnachar Bhikkhu Sangsad. 
The benefactors were - Bhadanta Pragya Jyoti Mahasthavira, Bhadanta Shuvananda Thero, Bhadanta Satyananda Thero, Bhadanta Sharansri Thero. 
The guests were - South Korean citizen HWPL Global03 Branch of International Peace Youth Group's Coordinator Mr. JACOB BAE. HWPL Global03 Branch Of Peace Education Department's Coordinator BENJAMIN KIM. Myanmar citizen

The event, held under the overall management of Bhadanta Dipananda Mahasthavir, President of the Celebration Committee and Chairman of Bangladesh Minority Buddhist Association, was attended by former Vice-Chancellor of Chattogram USTC Professor Dr. Prabhat Chandra Barua, Sadhak Dalim Barua, Dr.  Sabuj Barua, organizer Shyamal Chowdhury, Buddha Kirtan artist Tapas Barua, Jusi Barua, Dr. Rupa Barua, Suparna Barua, Ananya Barua and some others were awarded the Buddha Purnima Peace & Humanity Award 2026 for their respective contributions. 
 
The inaugural speech was delivered by Kadhurkhil Marjin Bihar Committee General Secretary Lion Sohel Barua, the welcome speech was delivered by Udjawan Committee Joint General Secretary Pulak Barua, and the editorial speech was delivered by Udjawan Committee General Secretary Uttam Kumar Barua. 
 
The program was presented by Pragya Barua and Manisha Barua with the Panchashil prayer of worshiper Sanjay Barua. 
 
On this occasion, Khand Bhabbana Anushil, a quiz competition titled Buddha Purnima and religious practices were held along with honoring individuals who have contributed to society at various levels. 
 
At the beginning of the program, music instructor Kamol Barua performed religious music. Among others present at the meeting were Boalkhali  Former president of the United Buddhist Council, Lion Banker Dulal Kanti Barua, president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Buddhist Unity Front Boalkhali Upazila branch, Paltu Kanti Barua, freedom fighter Sarat Chandra Barua, teacher Milan Barua, teacher Mridul Kanti Barua, organizers Jeshu Barua Chowdhury, Ashish Barua, Prashant Barua, Jhintu Barua and Pradeep Barua, among others.
