80 fruit-bearing trees cut down in Pirgachha due to brother-brother feud

There have been allegations that 80 trees of various species planted in Pirgachha of Rangpur were cut down in the dark of night. The incident took place in Dhapgachha village of Chhawla union of the upazila.
The victim, Saidul Islam, said that about 60-70 thousand taka was damaged in this. He filed a complaint with Pirgachha police station on Tuesday afternoon regarding the incident.
According to the complaint source, the two sons of Abdul Gafur of that village, Matiar Rahman and Saidul Islam. There has been a family dispute between them over the land they got through their ancestral lineage. As a result, Motiar, his wife Shamchunnahar, and Motiar's brother-in-law Sagar cut down mahogany, napier, and banana trees planted by Sagor Chhaidul, and severely beat and seriously injured his wife Selina Akhter. Later, locals rescued her and brought her to the Upazila Health Complex, where she was given four stitches on her head. After recovering, Selina Akhter filed a case against the accused in the Rangpur District Judicial Magistrate's Court on May 7. The case is ongoing.
The second incident was on Monday (July 28), when Chhaidul Islam was not at home at around 10 pm, the accused again cut down the remaining fruit trees on the land. Later, when the accused asked about the tree cutting, they abused them in foul language and publicly threatened them.
Another brother of Chhaidul, Mizanur Rahman, said, "My elder brother Motiar and his associates cut down Chhaidul's fruit trees." On the contrary, they are trying to file a case in the name of Saidul. His uncle Abdul Aziz also spoke against Matiar. When Matiar Rahman's mobile was called several times in this regard, his phone was found switched off.
In this regard, SI Shahnewaz of Pirgachha Police Station said, a complaint has been received regarding the incident. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
