Father of Youth Develooment Depat DG Ayub Ali Sarkar laid to rest in Gaibandha

Md Ayub Ali Sarkar, founder secretary of Sadullapur Upazila BNP, former principal of R A Gani School & College, and father of Motahar Hossain Tipu, Director General (DG) of the Department of Youth Development, has been laid to rest at his family graveyard in Gaibandha.
His second namaz-e-janaza was held on Friday (August 21) after Asr prayers on the grounds of R A Gani School & College in Chandiyapur under Rasulpur Union. Thousands of mourners—including leaders and activists from various political parties, close relatives, neighbours, and community members—attended the service before the burial.
Earlier in the morning, his first janaza took place on the premises of Shaplapara Staff Quarter Jame Mosque in Gaibandha town.
Aiyub Ali Sarkar passed away at the age of 88, leaving behind four sons, two daughters, and numerous well-wishers.
Throughout his long career, he played a prominent role in education, politics, and social work across the district. He was the founder, headmaster, and acting principal of Chandiyapur R A Gani School & College. He also served as an English teacher at Mirpur High School and Madarganj Senior Madrasa.
In his political life, Aiyub Ali Sarkar served as the secretary of the Rasulpur Union Sangram Committee in 1971. He went on to serve as the founding general secretary of Sadullapur Upazila BNP from 1979 to 1994, and later as its president from 1994 to 2004. In 2017, he served as the convenor of Gaibandha District BNP and subsequently held the position of senior vice-president in its full committee.
Before the janaza, several prominent figures paid tribute to his memory, including Gaibandha District BNP President Prof Dr Syed Moinul Hasan Sadique, General Secretary Mahmudun Nabi Titul, Sadullapur Upazila BNP Convenor Shamsul Hasan Shamsul, Member Secretary Abdus Salam Miah, former president Shafiqul Islam Swapan, and the deceased’s sons Motahar Hossain Tipu and Sadequl Islam Golub, among others.
Local officials including Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jasim Uddin, Election Officer Shahriar Pramanik, and Sadullapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Habibul Islam Habib were also present.
His passing has cast a pall of gloom over local political circles, former and current students, colleagues, and residents across the region.
