Young Man Drowns in Meghna River at Gazaria
Munshiganj (South) Correspondent:
A young man named Imam Hossain Nayon (25) drowned while visiting the Meghna River in Munshiganj with friends. The deceased, Imam, was the son of Zakir Hossain from Jamtala village in Fatullah upazila of Narayanganj district.
On Thursday, May 1st, around 5:30 PM, naval police recovered his body from the Meghna River in the Guchhagram area of Gazaria upazila. Earlier, around 3 PM, Imam and 6–7 friends had come from Narayanganj to bathe in the river at Guchhagram under Gazaria police station. Since he didn’t know how to swim, he drowned in the river. Upon receiving the news, members of the naval police and fire service recovered his lifeless body from the water.
Regarding the incident, Suranjit, In-Charge of the Gazaria Naval Police Outpost, said: “The young man drowned while visiting from Narayanganj with friends. His body was recovered and handed over to his family.”
