Two arrested on rape charges in Lakshmichari

Police have arrested two people on charges of rape in Lakshmichari, Khagrachari on Thursday. Based on a secret tip-off, the Lakshmichari police station arrested two rapists from their area at around 2:30 am.The arrested are Md. Mafizul Islam (31), son of Monirul Islam, a resident of Jurgachhari area of the upazila. Abu Taleb Gazi (28), son of Hamidul Gazi of Guchchagram area. Both are residents of the same upazila.According to the police press release, around 10:30 am on Thursday, the plaintiff (victim 18) went to take a bath and when she went to the canal under the road in front of their house to wash her used clothes, two unidentified men who were already waiting for her grabbed the victim's face and took her behind a nearby tree. Then, one of the two accused held the victim's face and forcibly raped her, and the other accused recorded the video on his mobile phone. In this way, the other accused also raped the victim, and the accused who had raped her earlier recorded the video on his mobile phone.The victim filed a case against the two under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act and the Pornography Control Act at Lakshmichari Police Station.Lakshmichari Police Station OC Md. Khaled Hossain said, the police were able to arrest the accused within just 3 hours of the case being filed. After the arrest, the victim identified the two accused when they were brought to the police station. Initially, the two arrested confessed to their crimes.
