The 24th Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Prof. Dr. Lutful Hasan's term has ended on May 29. Now it is a matter of discussion on the campus that who will be the 25th VC of BAU.

According to various sources, it was confirmed that Department of Pathology Prof. Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury and Prof. Dr. Md. Abu Hadi Nur Ali Khan along with the current VC are leading the race so far.

Department of Pathology Prof. Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury of BAU is likely to be the next VC. Currently, he is serving as Syndicate Member of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Science and Isha Khan International University and President of World Veterinary and Poultry Association.

He has also served as Director of Planning and Development Wing, Head of Department of Pathology, Convener of Provost Council, Chairman of Security Council, Hall Provost and Coordinator of Interdisciplinary Institute for Food Security.

Meanwhile, as the vc remains in the second term, the current VC prof. Dr. Lutful Hasan is also listed for the next VC. Before becoming the Vice-Chancellor, he previously served as the President of the Teachers' Association.

He has served as the president of the pro-Awami teachers' organization Gontantric Teachers' Forum, member of the Pay and Service Commission of the Government of Bangladesh 2014.

He also served as the Coordinator of Higher Education and Research Committee of the University, Director of Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES) and Head of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding of the University.

Also worked as an agricultural expert at International Rice Research Institute and Ministry of Science and Technology. However, it is known that his government service age as a teacher is over.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Md. Abu Hadi Nur Ali Khan is also in the list of possibilities to become the 25th Vice-Chancellor. Currently, he is serving as the Coordinator of Higher Education and Research Committee of BAU.

Before this, he served as Director of Baures, Director of Prof. Muhammad Hossain Central Laboratory and Proctor of University.

He served as the Acting President of Teachers Association and President of Democratic Teachers Forum.
