Symbols alloted to candidates in four Upazila Parishad elections of Sylhet

Symbols have been allotted to the candidates in the four upazilas of Sylhet in the first phase of the general election of the sixth upazila parishad election on May 8.

District Election Officer Md. Jillur Rahman announced the symbols at Sylhet District Election Office on Tuesday (April 23).

At this time, candidates from Sylhet Sadar, Dakshin Surma,Bishwanath and Golapganj upazilas were present. Laters, Sylhet District Election Officer handed over the symbols to the candidates. Through this, a total of 58 candidates in four upazilas including Sylhet Sadar survived in the first phase election to be held on May 8. Out of this, a total of 16 candidates will compete for 3 positions in Sadar Upazila, 19 candidates in Bishwanath, 13 candidates in Dakshin Surma and 6 candidates in Golapganj Upazila, the Election Office authorities have confirmed.

District Election Officer Md Jillur Rahman Monir Hossain requested the contesting candidates of 4 upazilas of Sylhet district to follow the code of conduct of the Election Commission to make the election fair and beautiful. Besides, if any kind of complaint is found against anyone, the Election Commission will be obliged to take necessary measures, he said.
