Seminar on Consumer Rights Protection Act held at Rangamati

A seminar on notification and implementation of Consumer Rights Protection Act was held in Rangamati. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan presided over the meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's office on Tuesday.
The Deputy Commissioner said, that if public awareness about the Consumer Rights Protection Act increases, it will be easier to protect consumer rights. Law is not only to punish but also an attempt to keep everyone away from illegal activities. Regular mobile courts will be conducted against adulterated products in Rangamati.
He said, the administration has to cooperate with information, in this case we can play an effective role. Consumption of adulterated food products causes many diseases in the human body. Artificial colors and harmful chemicals should not be added to the food. It is a punishable offense to tamper with the period and price mentioned on the packaging of the product.

The speakers in the meeting urged to increase the manpower of the Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection in the district and increase the progress of the work of the Sanitary Inspector in the district.Online sellers of various products need to be supervised so that they do not cheat the customers. The speakers requested to stop various posts related to health and medicine with incompetence through social media.
In the event, it was discussed to keep the prices of daily necessities at a reasonable and bearable level in Rangamati.
Additional District Commissioner Zobaida Akhtar, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Shiv Shankar Basak, Rangamati Chamber of Commerce President Md. Harunur Rashid, Rangamati District Branch Consumer Protection Movement President Nirmal Barua Milan, Banrupa Small Traders Association President Md. Abdul Quader, District Education Officer Mridul Kanti Talukdar, District Fisheries Officer Adhir Chandra Das, Deputy Assistant Director of Rangamati Fire Service Md. Abul Mannan Anwari and traders of various business establishments of Rangamati were present.
