RAJUK's eviction drive at Relic City in Savar

RAJUK has conducted a drive against a housing organization named 'Relic City' on charges of illegally selling land in Savar.
The organization's office was evicted along with a financial fine and the electricity connection was disconnected and the meter was seized. The drive was conducted on Thursday in Kumaran, Rajarbagh, Kamalapur, Sadhapur, Chakulia, Chandpara, Rajasan, Nikrail, Gandharia and Bilghabil Mouzas of Birulia Union in Savar.
According to RAJUK, this developer company called Relic City does not have any valid registration. There are allegations that it is selling plots to the general public at various prices by showing a 'layout' of about 2700 acres of land by pledging only 10 bighas of land. This action was taken in the wake of cheating the customer and the absence of valid documents.
RAJUK said that all the signboards and billboards of Relic City were removed during the operation. Along with this, a fine of Tk 1 million was imposed. A provision of one year of simple imprisonment has also been imposed in case of non-payment. An undertaking has also been taken from the organization that they will not carry out any activities under this name in the future.
A RAJUK official said the drive was launched after the notice was not responded to within the stipulated time. He added that such drives will continue in the public interest.
The layout of the project shows that the project has been developed in Kumaran, Rajarbagh, Kamalapur, Sadhapur, Chakulia, Chandpara, Rajasan, Nikrail, Gandharia and Bilghabil mouzas. However, RAJUK says that these lands are reserved as general reservoirs and agricultural land.
