The victim's family held a press conference to protest against the demolition of houses and shops built on land violating Section 144 issued by the government in Mirzapur, Tangail in the dark of night.

The press conference was held at the Tangail Press Club auditorium on Thursday morning.

In a written statement at the press conference, victim Jihak Khan Rudra said that he obtained 64 percent of the land in Gorai Mominnagar Mouza of Mirzapur Upazila with documents and built houses and shops on that land. Later, he filed a case with the land office to correct it because 24 percent of the land was mistakenly recorded in the name of the government. Out of the 64 percent of the land, a 1-year agreement was signed with local influential Noor Mohammad for a road over 5 percent of the land. As the agreement expired, it was not renewed.

He said, "If the accused Noor Mohammad and his two sons are involved in assaulting us and trying to cause damage to us in anger over not renewing the contract, I will file a GD (No. 1293, Tang-23/11/2024) against them at the police station as the plaintiff. They became even more angry and tried to separate 24 percent of the land I occupied (BS recorded in the name of the government).

When a permanent injunction case No. 378/2024 was filed in the Mirzapur Senior Assistant Judge's Court in this regard, the court issued an order to maintain the status quo. Disobeying the status quo of the court order and Section 144, with the help of 25-30 people in his entourage, on the night of December 16, they broke into my tin house, a 70-foot long tin fence and the veranda of another house (16 feet long) and looted the tin, wood, poles and other shop goods.

In a written statement, he said, "My family is at risk of physical, mental, financial and property damage at any time by Nur Mohammad Gang. I and my family are suffering from insecurity. Therefore, I seek the sincere cooperation of all concerned."
