A press conference was held against the joint general secretary of district BNP in Longadu.

The press conference was held in protest against the false statements made against Longadu Upazila BNP president Tofazzal Hossain and general secretary Abul Kalam Azad of Rangamati district.

Upazila BNP President Tofazzal Hossain read a written statement in the auditorium of Longadu Press Club on Sunday morning and said that today's press conference is in protest of the statement of Mr. Md. Abdul Barek Dewan, chairman of Kalapakujja Union Parishad last (December 19).

On the last 19th, Kalapakujya Union held a road protest. Chairman of Kalapakujya Union, Md. Abdul Barek Dewan, said that after August 5th, extortion is being carried out under the leadership of Longadu Upazila BNP President Tofazzal Hossain and General Secretary Abul Kalam. Which is just baseless fake propaganda. Which has damaged the image of the party to the extreme. Against such statements, we the nationalist family strongly protest and condemn. In the press conference, it was claimed that after August 5th, there was no incident of conflict between Longadu Upazila BNP and any other party. Under the leadership of Upazila BNP, good relations with people of all communities are unbroken. But he mentioned in his speech that after 5th August party dictatorship took place which is completely false and fabricated. So when did our party come to power and how was the dictatorship?

We would like to know the explanation from you. However, during the misrule of the last Awami League, he was elected chairman in the local Patano UP election by defying the party decision. Which we think is against the order of the party. His statement has caused extreme anger among the party's leaders and workers. In such a situation, his false, fabricated, baseless, speech is strongly condemned, protested and demanded for exemplary punishment. We have nothing to do with these baseless statements.

They said, "We had no preconceived idea about any of the issues mentioned in the said speech, but after learning about the events discussed, we strongly protested against it." We feel that only some vested interests are making such slanderous statements to serve their nefarious political interests and to tarnish the honor of me and my beloved political organization Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

In response to a question, Tofazzal Hossain said that there is no grouping in our party, Longadu Upazila BNP is always united. The president also said that the upazila still continues the work of the contractors of Awami League, but we did not stop it and did not demand any kind of contribution.
