A preparation meeting was held at Dhaka University Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Wednesday to celebrate Amar Ekushey February 'Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day' in a peaceful manner with due dignity.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan presided over the meeting.

The meeting was attended by the University's Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Edn) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Proctor Associate Prof Saifuddin Ahmed, Registrar, Deans of various faculties, Provosts of various halls, Chairmen of various departments, Directors of various institutes, Heads of offices and representatives of Dhaka University Alumni Association, Officers and Employees' Associations.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan called upon all concerned to observe the great Martyrs' Day and the International Mother Language Day in a fair and orderly manner with due dignity and solemnity. He sought the full cooperation of all concerned in the successful implementation of all the programs taken on the occasion of Amar Ekushey celebration in the interest of maintaining the reputation of Dhaka University.

In the meeting, in order to implement all the programs of the great Martyrs' Day and the International Mother Language Day smoothly, the Amar Ekushey Celebration Central Coordination Committee was formed with Prof Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dhaka University, as the coordinator, Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Prof Dr. Md. Selim Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, as the joint coordinator and Proctor Associate Prof Saifuddin Ahmed as the member-secretary. In addition, 13 sub-committees were formed on the occasion.
