Plantation Programme 2024 was organized by the Rangamati Anti-Corruption Commission and the Forest Department on Sunday morning at the “I Love Rangamati” point on the Rangamati-Kaptai link road.

Honorable Member of Parliament and Honorable President of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Mr. Dipankar Talukder, MP, was present as the chief guest.

Rangamati Superintendent of Police Mir Abu Tauhid, Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Chairman Mr. Supradeep Chakma, Rangamati 305 Infantry Brigade Region Commander Brigadier General Mr. Sohail Ahmed, SPP, AFWC, PSC, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan, Conservator of Forests Mr. Mohammad Mizanur Rahman were present on the occasion. Senior officials of various government departments were also present.

The honored guests present at the event participated in the tree planting program by planting various species of trees.

At the time, the speakers said that global disaster is happening as a result of population growth. Due to increase in population, the balance of the environment is disturbed due to which the biodiversity is adversely affected. There is no alternative to trees in maintaining the balance of the environment to keep the earth habitable or to protect the environment and nature from natural calamities.

Speakers also said that trees are directly related to our life and livelihood. Trees are very important components of our environment. So to keep the balance of the environment, we need to plant more and more trees in the empty places around us and everyone should be aware of this.
