Penalty for illegal extraction of sand in Jamuna at Bhuapur

Six persons were arrested for illegally extracting sand from the east bank of Yamuna river in Tangail's Bhuapur and they were fined Tk one lakh in two separate cases through the mobile court on Wednesday.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Amit Dutta gave the fine through a mobile court from Chituliapara and Valkutia areas of the upazila on Wednesday (07 September) morning.
The convicts are Surman Ali son of Abdus Chatter of Valkutia village of the upazila, Shahadat son of Monir Hossain of Chituliapara village and Rasel Mia son of Chanoar Mia, Nur Islam son of Kalu Lari village of Purbshardi village of Mehediganj upazila of Barisal district, Zainal Abedin son of Kanchan Mia and Mamun Hossain son of Abdur Razzak.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Amit Dutta said that 6 people were arrested from two separate places for extracting sand from the Yamuna river and one person was fined 50 thousand taka and the other 5 people were fined 1 lakh taka including 50 thousand taka in two separate cases. He also said that our campaign against illegal extraction of sand from Yamuna river will continue.
