Bumper production of Aman paddy has been achieved in Lalmohan upazila of Bhola this year.

Although the farmers of this upazila faced some difficulties due to excessive rain at the beginning of the season, they overcame it in time and got the expected yield. The farmers are happy to get a fair price for the produced paddy in the market as well.

According to the information of the Lalmohan Upazila Agriculture Office, this year Aman paddy has been cultivated on 23,450 hectares of land in Lalmohan upazila. From which there is a possibility of producing an average of 3.5 tons of paddy per hectare this season. In total, the Agriculture Office estimates that at least 82,075 tons of paddy will be produced in this upazila this year. Farmers are able to sell paddy at a rate of 1,050 taka per maund in the current market.

Accordingly, there is a possibility of producing a total of 215 crore 44 lakh 68 thousand 750 taka of paddy in Lalmohan upazila in the current Aman season. The Upazila Agriculture Office believes that all the paddy cutting in this upazila will be completed by the first week of January.

Md. Firoz, an Aman paddy farmer from Asuli area of Farajganj union of the upazila, said, "We have been cultivating different varieties of paddy for several years. This year, we cultivated Aman paddy on 480 percent of the land. However, due to heavy rain at the beginning of the season, we had to plant paddy seedlings several times. Still, this time the land has produced very good paddy. The price of paddy is also good in the market at the moment. So this time we have got the desired yield by cultivating paddy."

Md. Sabuj, another Aman paddy farmer from the same area, said, "This year, we have cultivated Aman on 320 percent of the land. Like other farmers, we also had to plant paddy seedlings several times at the beginning of the season. Because the paddy fields were submerged in water due to heavy rain at the beginning of the season. However, after overcoming all the obstacles, we have already finished harvesting all the paddy in the field. Even though it rained at the beginning of the season, the weather was very good until the paddy was collected. Due to which, by the grace of God, we also got a good yield of paddy.

In this regard, Lalmohan Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Md. Ahsan Ullah said that due to excessive rain at the beginning of Aman cultivation, the farmers really had to face a lot of difficulties. However, with the advice of the agricultural office, the farmers were able to overcome it.

After that, due to the relentless work of the farmers, they were able to get a good yield of Aman paddy this year. Currently, there is a good price for this paddy in the market. Therefore, we hope that Aman cultivation will increase further in this upazila in the future.
