LOFS leaders submit memo to RCC, view exchange meeting held

The non-governmental development and human rights organization Ladies Organization for Social Welfare (LOFS ) has submitted memorandum to the Rajshahi City Corporation demanding the open spaces for public gatherings, recreation, physical exercise, preservation and safety of existing spaces in Rajshahi metropolis on Monday afternoon at Rajshahi Nagar Bhaban
LOFS leaders presented the memorandum to the Secretary of the government, Md. Mubarak Hossain. A view exchange meeting was also held after the submission of the memorandum.
In the memorandum, as per the Local Government (City Corporation) Act-2009, new construction of open spaces for public gathering, recreation, physical exercise, preservation of existing spaces and ensuring safety have been mentioned.
The memorandum also mentions that the Corporation may regulate the movement of vehicles by regulations so that pedestrians are not endangered and can move safely and easily. May construct and maintain and operate parks necessary for public convenience and recreation. May provide, maintain and improve the quality of open space for public convenience. Besides, the City Corporation has been empowered to take any measures aimed at improving public health including health education.
Rajshahi City Corporation Supervising Engineer Ahmed Al Moin, Chief Health Officer Dr. F.A.M Anjuman Ara Begum, Chief Revenue Officer Abu Saleh Md. Noor-e-Sayed, Budget- cum -Accounts Officer Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan, Shahnaz Parvin executive director of LOFS , Vice-president Adv Nusrat Mehjabeen, Rasik Deputy Secretary (Acting) Taimur Hossain, senior assistant Humayan Kabir, Assistant Public Relations Ifficer Rakibul Haque, Program Ifficer Champa Khatun of LOFS, Program Assistant Tumpa Pal were present.
