Students and other civilians injured in the July-August uprising blocked the Agargaon-Shyamoli road on Wednesday noon, demanding proper treatment.
It is worth noting that another group of the injured protesters surrounded the convoy of Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum and British High Commissioner Sarah Cook in front of the Pangu Hospital in Shyamoli, making angry complaints of inadequate treatment facilities.
The duo managed to leave the site with support from hospital staff.
All the protesting injured civilians are undergoing treatment at Pangu Hospital, officially known as the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).
During the Agargaon blockade, the injured told reporters they were suffering from grossly inadequate medical services at Pangu Hospital, and were yet to receive the Tk1 lakh medical fund promised by state authorities.
One injured students alleged that after providing initial treatment, the physicians abruptly paused services and have kept the victims in limbo for the past three months.
Another student alleged a ward has been overburdened with 48 patients.
The hospital authorities have allowed in only foreign journalists, and kept out Bangladeshi reporters. The foreigners only talked with two-three patients to file their reports.
Many of the injured were prevented from talking with the foreign journalists, one wounded student alleged.
They demanded quality medical services, disbursal of the Tk1 lakh fund and opportunity to talk with reporters to reveal their ordeals.
