Int'l Day for Disaster Risk Reduction observed in Dimla

The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2025 was observed with due dignity in Dimla upazila of Nilphamari on Monday.
The upazila administration organized a series of events including a rally, discussion meeting, fire extinguishing demonstration, and screening of awareness videos on earthquakes and fire safety.
This year’s theme was — “Joint Efforts for Disaster Prevention.”
The day’s program began with a colorful rally that started from the Upazila Parishad premises, paraded through the main streets of the town, and ended at the upazila field. Later, a discussion meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad conference room, presided over by UNO Md. Imranuzzaman.
Among others present were Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Shawkat Kabir, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mir Hasan Al Banna, Primary Education Officer Birendra Nath Roy, Project Implementation Officer Ashraful Islam, Social Services Officer Wasim Islam, and Acting Officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense Noor Mohammad.
Later, the Fire Service conducted a fire extinguishing drill at the upazila field, demonstrating various techniques to reduce fire hazards and control flames effectively. Officials from different government and non-government organizations, NGO representatives, teachers, students, and local dignitaries were also present.
