Immunization campaign launched to prevent cervical cancer of women in Kamalganj

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Campaign 2024 was launched in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar to prevent cervical cancer in women.

On this occasion, a coordination meeting of the campaign was held at the Kamalganj Upazila Parishad meeting room on Thursday afternoon at the initiative of the Upazila Health Complex.

Under the chairmanship of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Joynal Abedin, Upazila Health and Planning Officer Dr. Muhammad Mahbubul Alam Bhuiyan.

Meanwhile, Kamalganj police station officer in charge Syed Iftekhar Hossain, upazila education officer Md. Saiful Islam Talukdar, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Samsun Nahar Parveen, Upazila Health Complex Medical Technologies (EPI) Ashraful Alam, officials of various administration departments, public representatives, politicians, businessmen, teachers, journalists, students and people from various walks of life were present.

According to sources, 11 out of every 1 lakh women in Bangladesh are affected by uterine cancer. 4971 people die every year.

Anti-cervical cancer vaccination program will start in Kamalganj upazila from October 24.

In the first 10 days, 11 thousand 488 girls from 5th to 9th class will be vaccinated in 275 educational institutions.

In the next 8 days, a total of 11 thousand 955 people including 467 adolescent girls will be brought under vaccination in the temporary center.

It is learnt that this vaccination program will start by registering through online.
