Two garment worker were allegedly raped while visiting the Baisakhi fair in Gazipur's Kaliakore. They are workers of the local garment factory Texnil Fashion Wear Limited. On Friday (April 26) afternoon, the victim's mother, one of the two garment workers, filed a written complaint with the Kaliakor police station. Earlier on Thursday April 25 this incident took place in Mouchak (Headquarters) area of the upazila.

On Friday (April 26) morning, Sajjad Hussain warned the victim's guardian over the mobile phone not to disclose the incident. At one point, he demanded ten lakh rupees from the victims by showing fear

The complaint lodged with the police station and the plaintiff said that two women workers of the local Texnil Fashion Wear Limited garment factory went to visit the Boishakhi fair in Mouchak (Sadarchala) village along with their colleague Aminul Islam around 8:30 pm on Thursday night. While going to the fair, their colleague Aminul Islam was recording the TikTok video of the two women workers.

Sajjad, Sakib Hossain and Shifat Hossain of local headquarters area and some of their associates took the two women along with their colleague Aminul Islam to a club house in Jamtala Bazar area. Aminul Islam, a garment worker, was beaten up in the club house and released at 2 am after being intimidated.

Later Sajjad along with his accomplices took the two garment workers hostage at gunpoint. At one point, they were picked up in an autorickshaw and taken to a forest in Arabari area of the upazila. There, Shakib Hossain and Shifat Hossain raped them several times in turn. Later at four in the morning, Sajjad, Sakib Hossain and Shifat Hossain took the two women to their home and left.

Two women garment workers who were victims of rape said that they were recording some videos for Tik Tok while going to Baisakhi fair in Mouchak (Sadarchala) village. Meanwhile Sajjad, Sakib Hossain and Shifat Hossain along with their accomplices 3/4 youths took us to a club in Jamtala Bazar. There 4-5 youths took us hostage at gunpoint and took us to a forest. There, with the help of Sajjad Hossain, Shakib Hossain and Shifat threatened to kill us and did bad things (rape) to us.

Accused Sajjad Hossain said on the phone, I have delivered the two women home around four in the morning. I am not involved in this incident.

Abul Fazal Md. Nashim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliakor Police Station said that a woman (mother of one of the victims) filed a written complaint in the afternoon against the rape of two women garment workers. The complaint is being seriously investigated. The accused will be arrested soon if the truth of the incident is found through investigation.
