Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Northwestern University Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sirajul Haque Chowdhury in his speech as chief guest said, as the first private university established in Khulna, the students here have already gained reputation at the national level.

He asked the students to be more alert so that the students can bring more reputation in the national and international arena. The university is playing a unique role in the expansion of higher education in the southwest region.

He said these on Friday while laying the foundation stone of the building of the permanent campus in Khulna.

Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the university Md. Rezaul Alam, member Mrs. Nahid Newazi, Md. Mizanur Rahman, Syed Hafizur Rahman, Md. Azizul Haque, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Seikh Md. Enayetul Babar, Treasurer Prof Kanai Lal Sarkar, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Convener of the Celebration Committee Dr. Md. Rauf Biswas, Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology Md. Inzamam-ul-Hossain, Proctor Md. Asaduzzaman, Director (Finance & Accounts) Rabindranath Dutta, Project Director Md. Rezaul Alam, Deputy Registrar Maryam Akhtar, Heads of Departments, Assistant Proctors , students, teachers were present and staff Maulana Abdul Momin Nomani led the prayers after laying the foundation stone.

Later, on this occasion pitha festival and interesting cultural programs were organized with the participation of students from various departments of the university. Hundreds of native bahari pithas are decorated in various stalls during pitha festival. The guests visited the stalls.
