Mosquitoes and flies are lying in the prepared rasmalai; cockroaches are lying in the veins. A stench is coming from rotten sweets.
There is dirt and garbage all around. In such an unhygienic environment, a factory named 'SS Food Products', under the supervision of the 'Matribhandar' authority in Cumilla is making rasmalai and various types of sweets.
The Cumilla district administration and BSTI conducted a raid on the factory, which was set up in BSCIC Industrial City without BSTI's approval, on Saturday afternoon.
The mobile court, led by Abdullah Al Noor Ashek, Assistant Commissioner of the District Administrator's Office, fined the factory 1.5 lakh taka under the Consumer Rights and BSTI Acts.
The raid revealed that the unauthorized factory named SS Food Products is actually owned by the famous sweets dealer Manoharpur Matribhandar Authority of Cumilla. Although they sell sweets in Manoharpur of the city, they have been secretly opening a factory in BC without informing BSTI and making various types of sweets including rosmalai. Where health safety or cleanliness is not being respected.
These sweets are brought from there to Matribhandar. They are sold to customers. Assistant Commissioner of the Cumilla District Commissioner's Office Abdullah Al Noor Ashek said that the factory is known throughout Bangladesh as Matribhandar, a famous institution in the country.
