A quiz and public speaking competition was organized by the voluntary organization Youth for Nation,
with the participation of over a hundred students from classes 8 to 10 of renowned schools across Sylhet.
Additionally, a fun debate session was held to encourage interactive learning among the students.
The organization’s first-ever Olympiad-2025, based on the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) —
Quality Education, took place on Saturday afternoon (May 31) at the mini auditorium of Shahjalal
University of Science and Technology (SUST). Renowned poet and researcher Muhibur Rahman Kiron
graced the event as the chief guest, while poet and writer Advocate Kalyan Chowdhury attended as the
special guest. Among the guests were theatre activist and social worker Samar Kumar Das, President of
Shahjalal University Press Club Jubiadul Haque Robin, and General Secretary Naeem Ahmed Shuvo. The
event began with a welcome speech by the organization’s Vice President Maria Jannat Eva. The program
was chaired by Youth for Nation founder Kabbo Majumdar and moderated by Secretary Sadman Ahmed
Shakib Chowdhury and Program and Communication Director Nadia Islam Tuhfa.
In his address, Muhibur Rahman Kiron said, “An initiative like this by Youth for Nation, involving young
students, is undoubtedly praiseworthy. It not only encourages academic excellence but also fosters
creativity and constructive engagement. This will instill a competitive spirit in students and motivate them
to aim for greater platforms, both nationally and internationally. I sincerely appreciate the tireless efforts
of the organizers and wish all participating students a bright future, good health, and holistic success.”
At the end of the program, the distinguished guests handed over crests and prizes to the winners of the
various competitions, marking a joyous conclusion to the day’s inspiring events.
