First unit of Patuakhali Thermal Power Plant to come into production in 2nd week of January

The first unit of Patuakhali Thermal Power Plant is coming into production.
The first unit is commissioned this month, the second unit will start production in June.
In all, 1,320 megawatts of electricity will be available from this center. Which is about 10 percent of the demand. Testing and commissioning of the first unit has already been completed. The construction work of thermal power plant in Londa village of Kalapara of Patuakhali started in 2019. The center could not go into production last year due to various reasons. However, the first unit of 660 MW is being commissioned in the second week of this month.
Ashraf Uddin, Supervising Engineer of Patuakhali Thermal Power Station, said that starting from the transmission line, the construction of jetty for coal transport has been completed. Trial production is currently underway on the first unit, with commercial launch in March.
Shaukat Osman, Executive Engineer (Mechanical) of Patuakhali thermal power plant said, 1 lakh 25 thousand tons of coal has been stored to keep the production going. One lakh 65 thousand tons will come this month. The cost of each unit of electricity generated from this center will be 9 rupees.
Patuakhali 1320 MW Power Plant TPC (Commercial), Mr. Manager. Yang said, this coal-based power plant is the latest ultra supercritical technology. It has been built as per international standards. As a result, this Chinese engineer said that this power plant will not have any harmful effect on the environment.
At present, the capacity of coal-based power plants in the country is 5 thousand 992 MW. When Patuakhali is fully operational, it will be 7 thousand 312 MW.
