The Department of Environment (DoE), Narayanganj, has collected fines amounting to 1.5 million BDT from 10 brick kilns in the Boktabali area of Sadar Upazila, Narayanganj.

Yesterday, Monday (, a team led by Executive Magistrate and Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Rezwan-ul-Islam from the Monitoring and Enforcement Wing of the Department of Environment, along with officials from the Narayanganj District Police and the DoE Narayanganj District Office, conducted an operation against illegal brick kilns in Boktabali, Sadar Upazila, Narayanganj. Present at the operation were A.H.M. Rashed, Deputy Director of the DoE, Narayanganj District Office, while Assistant Director Md. Mobarak Hossain filed the prosecution.

During the operation, fines were imposed and collected from 10 brick kilns in accordance with the **Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment (Control) Act, 2013 (Amended-2019)**. The authorities also issued strict orders to completely shut down their operations. Additionally, an excavator was used to partially demolish the kiln of Messrs. Nazrul Bricks, and its activities were halted.

Reports indicate that **New National Bricks-1**, located in **Dharamganj, Enayetnagar Union, Fatullah**, was fined **100,000 BDT** in cash. Similarly, fines were imposed on other brick kilns as follows: New National Bricks-2 – 100,000 BDT, Messrs. Taj Bricks Manufacturing (East Gopalnagar, Char Boktabali) – 100,000 BDT, Messrs. Nazrul Bricks – 200,000 BDT, Messrs. Khadija Bricks – 200,000 BDT, Messrs. Nizam Bricks – 100,000 BDT, Messrs. Bismillah Bricks– 200,000 BDT, Messrs. Sun Bricks– 200,000 BDT, ASB Bricks (East Gopalnagar) – 200,000 BDT and Bokhari Bricks– 100,000 BDT In total, 1.5 million BDT was collected in fines.

A.H.M. Rashed, Deputy Director of the Department of Environment, Narayanganj District Office, stated that similar operations against illegal brick kilns and air-polluting factories/projects in Narayanganj will continue.
