Dr. Mohammed Mahtab Hossain Mazed
One of the most important worship of Islam is sacrifice, which is celebrated on the occasion of the holy Eid al -Azha. Through this worship, Muslims sacrifice animals to seek Allah's satisfaction. However, sacrifice is not just a means of slaughtering animals; It is a broad religious and social process, one of which is the proper care and care of the animal. Careful for animals belongs to the Islamic ideals, and since the animal of the sacrifice is determined for worship, we have more responsibility for it.
In this article I will discuss the various aspects of the animal care of the sacrifice - food, health, environment, medical, mental well -being and the right care of the religious point of view.
1. The importance of animal selection of sacrifice
The care of the sacrifice begins with the proper animal selection. According to the hadith, the animal of the sacrifice must be healthy, non -existent and of certain age. Cows and buffaloes must be at least two years, one year if the goat and the camel are five years old. During the selection of animal, he has to examine his walking, eyes, ears, horns, teeth, etc. well. It is inappropriate to sacrifice the weak, crippled or sick animal.
2. Habitat
The cleanliness of its place is very important to properly observe the animal. Open space for animals, enough light-air opportunities and dry and dry urinary tract should be ensured. Regularly changes the straw, soil or sand and the place needs to be kept dry. Animals may become ill in a wet and damp environment. The pesticide should be sprinkled around the farm or in the courtyard of the house so that flies, mosquitoes or other insects do not cause infection.
3. Food and nutrition
The health of the animal depends on its diet. Adequate nutrition should be ensured in the food of the animal of the sacrifice. They can be fed every day to adequate straw, grass, khil, bhushi, rice bran, powder, maize, etc. Also pure water needs to be kept available always. The water pot should be cleaned daily. It is better to fed slowly in the normal way without trying to thicken the animal with high food. Excess foods can cause acidity, diarrhea or digestive problems.
4. Health care and treatment
Keeping the health of the animal good helps to fulfill the importance of sacrifice. Animal health examination should be conducted from the local veterinarian. Vaccination, pesticide application, deerming (abdominal pesticide drugs) should be done as needed. In the event of a blow, boil or any other disease on the animal, it is necessary to treat quickly without neglect. Symptoms of a disease, such as eating and drinking, breathing, change in the closet, etc. should be consulted by the veterinarian.
5. Exercise
The animal of the sacrifice does not just be fed; He has to give him enough walking. Animals should be walking in the open at least 5 to 5 minutes daily. It improves his digestion, the muscles are active and the immune system increases. Walking is especially important for large animals like cows and buffaloes. Animal legs, hoofs and motions should be kept during walking so that no cripplace or abnormality can be seen.
6. Attention and mental care
Animals are sentimental animals. They respond to our use, feel love. After buying an animal for sacrifice, it is important to treat him friendly. Rubbing his hands on him, calling calmly, spending time with him - these animals are important for mental health. It is consistent with the consciousness of the sacrifice that the mentality of seeing the animal as a living creation is not as a machine.
7. Eid -ul -Fitr
When the Eid day comes to a close, the care of the animal becomes more important. At this time, special attention should be paid to the health and cleanliness of the animal. The day before the Eid should be cleaned by bathing the animal. Cleaning dirt from the throat, cutting the hoof, cleaning the horn - the animal makes the animal look more healthy and appropriate. It is best to feed him and drink water on the morning of Eid, so that the animal is not weak during the slaughter.
8. Care from religious perspective
Islam has been encouraged to behave in mercy and mercy in Islam. The hadeeth states, "If you slaughter an animal, do it well. Shake the knife and do not hurt the animal." (Sahih Muslim). This directive applies not only to the time of slaughter, but also to care before sacrifice. It is not just human responsibility to care religiously, but also a reward. If cruelty and neglected towards the animal are disrupted, the main purpose of sacrifice is disrupted.
9. Children's education
It is very important to teach children the care and sympathy of children and adolescents during the sacrifice. They should not see the animal as toys, but learn the responsibility and compassion for living creation - this should be our teaching. Children can be encouraged to feed, water and participate in cleanliness. In this they will gain the values of the inherent sacrifice and sympathy of sacrifice.
10. Social responsibility
In the city or in the village, wherever the animal is kept, it is important to take care of the surrounding environment and neighbors. The sound of the animal, the urine, the odor-all of them need to be ensured so that it does not cause annoyance for the neighbor. In addition to animal care, we need to be careful in these social aspects.
Finally, it is not only a social and moral responsibility to take care of the animal of the sacrifice. The care, love and humanity we show to them before sacrificing these animals in the name of Allah is a reflection of the consciousness of true sacrifice and sacrifice. Therefore, once the sacrificial animal is bought, the responsibility does not end; Rather, as long as he is with us, it is our duty to ensure that he can be in honor, love and well -being.
