DU bans partisan politics on campus

DU Correspondent

The Dhaka University authorities have decided to ban all kinds of party-based politics for students, teachers, officials, and employees on the campus until further orders.

This decision was made at an emergency syndicate meeting on Thursday night with Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan in the chair.

Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Mamun Ahmed, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Sayema Haque Bidisha, and Treasurer Prof M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury were present at the meeting among others.

Wishing anonymity, a syndicate member said the meeting began around 7pm and continued till 8:45pm at the Vice-Chancellor's Lounge. The decision was made after nearly two hours of discussion, he added.

Another syndicate member said the main agenda of the meeting was student politics. Later, all sorts of partisan politics for students, teachers, officials, and employees were banned.
