Distribution of VGF rice among fishermen in Goalando Municipality

VGF rice has been distributed among the registered fishermen of Goalando Municipality of Rajbari district who refrained from hilsa harvesting in the Padma river during the mother hilsa conservation campaign.
On Wednesday (October 9) at around 10:30 am, 25 kg of rice was distributed among 122 registered card-holder jails in the Upazila Hilsa Resource Development Union Task Force Committee.
Goalando municipality administrator and upazila executive officer Joti Chandra, upazila assistant commissioner Bhumi Md. in the rice distribution program. Shafiqul Islam, upazila social service officer. Ruhul Amin Upazila Fisheries Office Assistant Field Assistant Krishna Lal Das and others were present.
Municipal Administrator Joti Bikas Chandra said that the government has banned any kind of netting, including netting in the river during the hilsa breeding season from 12th October to 2nd November. Therefore, he requested all the fishermen not to go down to the river and catch hilsa for these 22 days.
