
Disaster management training workshop held in Dohar

A day-long training workshop on disaster management was organized by the Dohar Upazila Administration (Disaster Management Branch) to enhance awareness and capacity for disaster response and strengthen emergency response mechanisms. The event took place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Olive and Fig Restaurant in Dohar Bazar, organized by the Upazila Administration.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dohar Upazila Executive Officer and Municipal Administrator Tania Tabassum, who presided over the event. Participants included officials from various upazila departments, local administration representatives, and members of the Upazila Disaster Management Committee. The training covered pre-disaster preparedness, immediate response, and recovery processes in detail.
Trainers included Md. Abdur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Disaster Management Directorate, Dhaka Range, and Salauddin Al-Wadud, Dhaka District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer. They informed participants about the fundamentals of disaster management and modern techniques. The training was supported by Project Coordinator and Dohar Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Kutubuddin and Assistant Officer Abdus Salam.
Present at the workshop were Dohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Rezaul Karim, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Md. Robiul Awal, Livestock Officer Md. Shamim Hossain, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Sabrina Akter Lucky, and Upazila Agriculture Officer Turaj Ahmed, among others.
At the conclusion, participants shared their experiences and praised the initiative, expressing that the training would help them become more skilled and prepared to handle real-life disaster situations in affected areas.
