Dead cattle float in floodwaters on the shores of Hakaluki Haor, Asia's largest. The stench is spreading in the air as the dead cattle rot in the flood water.

As a result, the people of Banavasi on the banks of the Haor have been made miserable by this misery caused by the polluted smell of water and air. On the spot, dead cattle were seen floating in Dhaliya beel of Rangirkul and Rampasha areas of Kulaura upazila and Haor area of Madangauri area of Bhukshimil union.

This is polluting both water and air and destroying the environment. The flood water has a bad smell and a lot of black color. This water is not going to be used for any purpose. The incidence of waterborne diseases, skin diseases and diarrhea is increasing. Especially children are being affected by these diseases.

Upazila Animal Resources Officer Dr Mithun Sarkar said, "We do not have any information that any cattle died in the floods." However, we are looking into the matter.
