
Cultural worker attacked in Tongibari over land dispute

A cultural worker was beaten up and his house was vandalized in Tongibari, Munshiganj and a complaint has been filed with the police station.
It is learnt that on Friday at 6 pm, Padma Theater President Md. Farid Hasan Chowdhury, a resident of Ward No. 2 of Sonarang-Tongibari Union, was attacked due to past enmity and his wife Farzana (36), elder son Barat Hossain (18) and younger son Vivek Hasan (10) by Farooq Sheikh (50), Akbar Sheikh (60), sons of deceased Kalu Sheikh of the same village. Fahim Sheikh (19), Mahim Sheikh (18), sons of Md. Faruq Sheikh. Rafi (20), son of Abdul Hai. Robin Majumder (30), son of Kashem Majumder.
Local sources say that Md. Farid Hasan Chowdhury is an artificial insemination practitioner and a cultural activist. This is the most heinous attack on a cultural activist and his family over a land dispute. Some locals used sticks and sticks to break the tin fence of Farid Hasan's house, various fruit trees, and the doors and windows of the house. I have heard that his wife was also attacked. A woman should not be attacked. The administration should conduct a proper investigation and bring the culprits to justice quickly.
Cultural activist Md. Farid Hasan Chowdhury, who was attacked in this regard, said, "On Friday, after Juma prayers, when I went to my land, due to a land dispute, several people led by Abdul Hai attacked my house. I called the emergency service on 999 and the police came and took them away.
Attempts to contact the accused Abdul Hai on his mobile phone in this regard were unsuccessful.
Police Station OC Md. Mohidul Islam said, the police went on the basis of the complaint on 999. Later, he came and filed a complaint. We will take legal action.
