Cover van, bus with hilsa and 80 sea fishes seized in Kalapara

The mobile court seized a mini covert van and a Sugandha Special bus with hilsa and different species of sea fish in Kalapara of Patuakhali.
Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kaushik Ahmed of the mobile court seized these fish from the toll plaza of Sheikh Kamal Setu at eleven o'clock on Wednesday. Sabbir Hossain, the driver of the mini covert van, was fined Tk 10,000 and Rubel Hussain, the driver of the Sugandha Special bus, was fined Tk 10,000. The seized fish was distributed among the needy people of Bangabandhu Colony in Kalapara. Later, the drivers were released after giving a bond that they would not transport sea fish during the prohibition period.
Executive Magistrate of Mobile Court and Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Kaushik Ahmed said that the businessmen wanted to smuggle these fish to Dhaka after buying them from Asadu fishermen who were hunting fish from the sea in violation of the ban on fishing for 65 days from May 20 to July 23. These fishes have been seized by raiding on the basis of secret information. Our raid will continue in the coming days as well.
