Barishal University student killed in bus accident

A student from the University of Barishal was tragically killed after being hit by a bus while crossing the road on the Barishal-Kuakata highway near Bhola Crossing.
The deceased student has been identified as Maisha Fauzia Mim, a student from the Department of Statistics, 2022-23 academic session.
University Assistant Proctor Mohammad Sakibul Islam confirmed the matter to The Country Today.
The accident occurred around 9:30 pm on Wednesday.
According to an eyewitness, a fruit vendor, "The bus was speeding. The girl was crossing the road with her hand raised, signaling to stop, but the bus suddenly ran over her and sped away. She fell between the wheels, yet the vehicle didn’t stop. Later, people rushed her to the hospital."
Reportedly, the bus, identified as "Narayanganj Travels," was heading from Kuakata to Barishal. After hitting the student, it attempted to flee, but other students managed to intercept it at the toll gate of Serniabat Bridge and brought it to the university campus.
University Assistant Proctor Mohammad Sakibul Hasan said the student was taken to the hospital where the attending doctor declared her dead.
