Bangladesh High Commissioner to Brunei Nahida Rahman Shumona recently met with Home Minister of Brunei Dato Seri Setia Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman at his office.

During the meeting they discussed key issues related to Bangladeshi migrant workers in Brunei, said a press release.

Bangladeshi Migrant Worker Welfare:

The High Commissioner and the Hon Minister discussed measures to improve the welfare and living conditions of Bangladeshi migrant workers in Brunei. They explored ways to ensure the workers' basic rights are protected and that they have access to proper healthcare and other social services.

New Recruitment and Permanent Residence

They also talked about streamlining more the new recruitment process for Bangladeshi workers and explored the possibility of granting permanent residency to long-serving Bangladeshi diaspora in Brunei. This would provide more stability and security for the Bangladeshi community.

Potential BOESL Delegation Visit

Additionally, the officials discussed the potential for a delegation from Bangladesh's Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BOESL) to visit Brunei. This would allow for the sharing of information and best practices related to worker management and welfare.

Information Sharing

Throughout the meeting, the Bangladesh High Commissioner and Brunei Home Minister emphasised the importance of regular information sharing between the two countries on matters concerning Bangladeshi migrant workers. This would help identify and address any issues in a timely manner.
