The Badminton Tournament-2025 was inaugurated at the club premises at 7 pm on Sunday at the initiative of the National Press Club.

Central BNP Sports Affairs Secretary and Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP Convener Aminul Haque was present as the chief guest.

Former national badminton champion Md. Monowar ul Alam (Babul) was present as the special guest.

The chief guest said that to keep the youth away from drug addiction, they should be made interested in sports. All the fields that are unsuitable for playing in Bangladesh should be renovated and made suitable for sports.

National Press Club President Hasan Hafiz said, we have been ruined by the 16-year fascist dictatorship. Currently, we hope to regain ourselves through sports in a free atmosphere. He also said that various sports events will be organized throughout the year in honor of today's event at the initiative of the National Press Club.

BFUJ Secretary General and National Press Club Management Committee Member Quader Gani Chowdhury said, "We have to play sports regularly to keep our bodies healthy. We have to exercise at least for half an hour every day. We have to make our fields suitable for playing and encourage children to play sports."

The programme was hosted by Shahnaz Begum Poli, member of the Management Committee and convener of the Sports Sub-Committee.

Dhaka Journalists Union President Shahidul Islam, National Press Club Treasurer Bakhtiar Rana, Management Committee member Kazi Rawnak Hossain, Sports Sub-Committee members Mofizur Rahman Khan Babu, Shirin Sultana, DM Amirul Islam, Abdullah Majumder and members of the Press Club were present at the time.

40 people have registered their names in singles and 16 in doubles competition in this three-day game.

Din Islam will served as the judge in the tournament.
