Setting an extraordinary example of humanitarian service, Md. Jahidul Islam, a Village Defence Party (VDP) member of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP from Narayanganj, volunteered to donate blood to save the life of a critically ill expectant mother undergoing treatment in Dhaka.
The recipient, Mst. Sumi Akhter, a resident of Siddhirganj in Narayanganj, was receiving treatment at Ad-din Hospital in Moghbazar, Dhaka, when she faced an urgent need for blood following pregnancy complications.
Upon learning about the emergency situation and the distressed family's appeal, Jahidul Islam rushed to the hospital to donate blood. This marked the 13th time Jahidul has voluntarily donated blood to save lives.
Jahidul Islam, son of Md. Moklech Majhi, resides in Munshibagh under the Kutubpur area of Fatullah, Narayanganj. Alongside his security duties, Jahidul has a longstanding record of voluntary community service and blood donation.
Expressing deep gratitude, members of the patient's family commended Jahidul and the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP authorities for their prompt, lifesaving assistance during a critical hour.
Ansar and VDP officials noted that in addition to maintaining law and order, members of the force consistently engage in social welfare and voluntary civic activities as part of their commitment to public service.
