A 77-year-old Alhaj Liakat Howladar of North Badurgacha village of Sharikkhali Union of Taltali Upazila has not been to Dhaka in 10 years.

He has been accused in the case of killing Ali Mia in the Anti-discrimination Student Movement at Adabar police station in Dhaka city. At the same time, his two sons, Imam Alhaj Ghulam Mostafa Hawladar (48), businessman Abul Kalam Hawladar are accused in the case. A sensation has been created in the area as the father and son are accused in the murder case. The victims demanded that they be released from the murder case quickly.

Old man Alhaj Liaquat Hawladar said in a tearful voice, "At the age of 77, I can't walk properly, I will go to kill?" At home, I went to pray in the mosque with the help of my boys, and returned home with their help. But I am now accused of murder. He also said that in 2014, I went to Dhaka while going for Hajj. After that I did not go to Dhaka in 10 years. My two sons have not been to Dhaka in the last 5 years. I and my two sons have been accused in the murder case.

He demanded the police administration to investigate the murder case and give me and my two sons the freedom. According to the case, Ali Mia, son of Jabed Ali of Shekertek area, took part in the anti-discrimination student movement on July 19 last year. At that time he was seriously injured by the terrorists. Locals rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. After six days of treatment in that hospital, he died on July 25 last year.

Ali Mia's cousin Toha Khan, who was killed in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on November 14 last year, filed a murder case against 127 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In that case, accused No. 13 is 77-year-old Alhaj Md. Liaqat Howlader, accused No. 15 is his son Abul Kalam Howlader and defendant No. 19 is his son, the Imam of the mosque, Alhaj Md. Gholam Mostafa Howlader. Three innocent and non-political families have been accused in the murder case in the anti-discrimination student movement, creating a sensation in the area. Imam Alhaj Md. Gholam Mostafa Hawladar of the defendant mosque in the case No. 19 said, I lead the mosque in the area. My family is not affiliated with any political party. But I and my old father and brother have been accused in the murder case in Dhaka by conspiracy. He demanded that we stay away from this case.

He also said that the truth of the incident will come out only after this investigation.

Taltali Police Station OC Md. Shahjalal said that the DMP has asked the Adabar police station to identify the names of the three persons and submit an investigation report. A report will be given accordingly.

DMP's Adabar police station OC Mahfuz Imtiaz Bhuiyan said over the phone that the case is under investigation. Action will be taken against the real accused subject to investigation. He also said that no one will be harassed without any crime.
