It has been alleged that wife Zubayra Akhtar Jannatir (17) was killed due to the torture of husband Imon Sardar. Father journalist Suman Rashid has complained.

He also complained that the girl was killed and hanged on her neck and pretended to be suicide. The killer husband left the body of Imon Sarda's wife in the hospital and fled. The incident took place in Palli Vidyut area of Amtali Municipality on Friday night.

It has been reported that Iman Sardar, son of Al Amin Sardar of Nachnapara village, secretly married Jubaira Akhter Jannati, daughter of Sumon Rashid, president of Amtali Journalist Club of Gulishakhali village of the upazila, a year ago. Father Suman Rashid alleged that husband Emon Sardar has been torturing wife Jannati on various pretexts including dowry since marriage. On Friday afternoon, husband Eamon cut off his wife Jannati's hair due to a marital dispute. There is conflict between husband and wife.

At one stage, the husband severely beat Imon Sardar's wife Jannati. He died from that beating. Thinking of death, husband Iman puts the veil around his wife's neck and hangs her from the ceiling of the house with a noose. The husband Emon staged a suicide drama and took his wife's body to the Amtali Upazila Health Complex. When the doctor confirmed Jannati's death in that hospital, Emon ran away leaving the body.

On receiving information, the police recovered the body from the hospital and sent it to Barguna morgue for post-mortem. A case of wrongful death has been filed at Amtali police station in this incident. Swami Emon Sardar lived in a rented house in Amtali Municipality Palli Vidyut area. After the post-mortem on Saturday afternoon, the police handed over Jannat's body to the family. His body was buried in his father's family cemetery that afternoon.

Some who did not wish to be named said that husband Iman used to beat his wife Jannati often on various pretexts. On Friday afternoon, Imon cut the hair of wife Jannat's head. Jannati protested this. At one stage, husband Iman severely beat his wife Jannati. One stage loses consciousness. Thinking of death, he wrapped a veil around his neck and hanged himself, shouting suicide. Later, he himself took his wife's body to the hospital.

Father Suman Rashid said, son-in-law Emon Sardar used to torture my daughter Jannati since her marriage. My daughter told me several times on the phone. But I didn't pay attention to the girl. Eamon cut my daughter's hair on Friday afternoon. When my daughter protested, husband Eamon severely beat her on the orders of father-in-law. My daughter lost consciousness. Thinking of death confirmed the murder by hanging my daughter. I want justice for this incident.

Husband Iman Sardar denied killing his wife and said, "I cut my wife's hair due to marital discord." He had an argument with me in this incident. At one point, she committed suicide by twisting the veil around her neck. Amtali Upazila Health Complex Medical Officer Dr. Moniruzzaman Khan said Jannati died before being brought to the hospital.

Amtali Police Station OC (Investigation) Md. Amir Hossain Serniabad said, the body was recovered and sent to Barguna morgue for post-mortem. Legal action will be taken after complaint. He also said that a wrongful death case has been filed in the police station.
