Rath Yatra of Sri Sri Jagannathdev, Baladev and Subhadra Maharani has been commemorated in Sylhet.

On the occasion International Krishna Bhavanamrit Sangh (ISKCON) Sylhet Temple started the Ratha Yatra program in the morning with various Manglik ceremonies on Sunday. Among these were Harinam Sankirtan, Agnihotra yajna for world peace and prosperity, later a distribution of Mahaprasad and a discussion meeting was held in the afternoon.

Sunamganj-1 Constituency Member of Parliament Advocate Ranjit Sarkar was present as the chief guest.

He said this country belongs to people of all religions. Everyone will practice their religion here. He appealed to everyone to create a non-communal Bangladesh by destroying the militancy and evil forces in the spirit of the liberation war.

General Secretary of ISKCON Bangladesh and President of ISKCON Sylhet Shrimt Bhakti Advaita Navadwip Swami Maharaj presided over the event.

Sylhet City Corporation acting mayor Makhlishur Rahman Kamran, Dainik Samakal Sylhet Staff Reporter and Bangladesh Human Rights Journalist Commission President Faisal Ahmad Bablu, Public Relations Officer of Sylhet City Corporation Sajlu Lashkar, prominent businessman Robin Pal, General Secretary of Sylhet Mahanagar Puja Udjajar Parishad Chandan Das, Councilor of Sylhet City Corporation Ward 11 Abdur Rakib Bablu, Sylhet Divisional Committee President of Bangladesh Photojournalists Association Md Yusuf Ali as special guests.

At the end of the discussion meeting, Habibur Rahman Habib, Member of Parliament of Sylhet-3 Constituency, inaugurated the Rath Yatra by lighting the mangal lamp. Later, a grand procession including the chariots of Sri Sri Jagannathdev, Subhadra and Balaram was taken out from here in three huge chariots in colorful costumes. The colorful procession starts from the Jugaltila temple and circumambulates the city of Sylhet and ends at the temple.

Meanwhile, Srimat Bhakti Advaita Navadwip Swami Maharaj, Vice President of International Society for Krishna Consciousness-ISKON Bangladesh and Principal of ISKCON Sylhet, has specially requested the devotees of all levels to attend the 9-day Rath Yatra festival.
