They were arrested from Kotalirchar Bilpar area of Mahishashura UP under Madhabdi police station of Sadar upazila around 1.30pm on Tuesday.
Madhabdi Police Station OC Syeduzzaman, SI Naimul Islam Mostaq and SI Mozaffar Hossain led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Shahed Ahmed arrested them on the basis of secret information.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Enamul Haque Sagar of Narsingdi Police Super Office said this at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

He said they were preparing for a robbery in front of the stairs of a petrol pump building under construction in Kotalirchar area of Sadar upazila around 1.30pm. Police arrested five robbers from the spot on the basis of secret information. At that time, sensing the presence of the police, some robbers fled.

The arrested are from Narshwardi village of Madhabdi police station of Sadar upazila. Rahman's son Abu Kalam alias Ujjal. Yunus Ali alias Gachhua, son of Jamir Ali of Doukadi village in the same area, Halim alias Hailya, son of Badal Mistri of Brahmanpara area of Sadar upazila, Md. Shamsul Haque, son of Bagadi area. Zakir Hossain, son of Mohammad Ali alias Magar of Baliapara area of Arai Hazar upazila of Iqbal and Narayanganj districts. A magazine with a round of ammunition and a foreign pistol, an iron knife, a steel-handled sword, an iron shovel and a large Ramada were recovered from them.

It was further informed at the press conference that there are multiple cases against the arrested in different police stations. Besides, a case has been filed in Madhabadi police station under the Preparation of a Robbery and Arms Act. The court ordered them to be sent to jail on Wednesday afternoon.
