48-hours ultimatum demanding reconciliation of Rangamati Zilla Parishad

The residents of four upazilas have demanded that the appointment of the nominated members of the newly formed interim Rangamati Hill District Council must be canceled and the representatives of Kaukhali, Barkal, Jurachhari and Rajasthali upazilas be added.
They held a press conference in Rangamati urging the interim government to reconstitute the district council and issue a new notification.
This demand was announced in a press conference organized in Rangamati town on Tuesday morning.
In the press conference, a warning was given to announce a new program if the government does not take action within the next 48 hours.
It was alleged in the press conference that in a notification issued by the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs on November 7, 15 representatives were appointed from only 6 out of 10 upazilas of Rangamati, leaving no representatives from Kaukhali, Barkal, Jurachhari and Rajasthali upazilas. Most of the members who have been appointed to the Zilla Parishad are alleged to be John is isolated and beneficiaries of the fallen government.
There are even multiple members of the same family and absconding accused in the murder case in the council.
Advocate Dinnath Tanchangya, Satya Vikas Tanchangya, Uthan Marma on behalf of Rajasthali upazilas, on behalf of Kaukhali upazila resident Md. Jasim Uddin, Lalit Chandra Chakma, Md. Tara Mia, on behalf of Barkal upazila residents Emdad Hossain and Pulin Bihari Chakma,Ranjit Tanchangya, representative of the Tanchangya community, Advocate Rajiv Chakma on behalf of Jurachhari upazila attended the press conference.
