A case of money embezzlement has been filed against the former vice chairman of Amtali Upazila Parishad Municipal Awami League President Md. Mojibur Rahman. Gulishakhali Union Parishad former chairman Alhaj Ad. Nurul Islam Amtali filed this case in the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

Court judge Md. Rakib Hossain took cognizance of the case and issued a summons against the accused Mojibur Rahman. It is alleged that the former vice chairman Md. Mujibur Rahman has embezzled crores of rupees collected by various people in the name of Shalis meeting in the last 15 years by showing his power. But common people did not dare to open their mouths against him out of fear.

It has been reported that Alhaj Nurul Islam, the former chairman of Gulishakhali Union Parishad of Amtali Upazila, collected seven lakh taka from the former vice chairman of the upazila parishad, Municipal Awami League President Md. Mojibur Rahman on February 17, 2021. When he (Mujibur) wanted to ask for that money, he started arguing without giving the money. A meeting was held in the Barguna District Lawyers' Association. In that meeting he promised to return the money within a few days. But even after the past four years, he has not returned the collected money. On Tuesday, Nurul Islam filed a case against Mojibur Rahman in the Amtali Senior Judicial Magistrate Court as a plaintiff for not returning the money.

Judge Md. Rakib Hossain ordered the accused Mojibur Rahman to appear in court on November 21 after taking cognizance of the case. It is alleged that the former vice chairman Md. Mujibur Rahman has embezzled crores of rupees collected by various people in the name of Shalis meeting in the last 15 years by showing his power. But common people did not dare to open their mouths against him out of fear.

The plaintiff Alhaj Adv. Nurul Islam said, I went to Dhaka with a deposit of 700,000 taka from the former vice chairman of the upazila parishad Md. Mojibur Rahman. When he came from Dhaka and wanted to return the money, he hesitated to return it. This is how the last four years have passed. Later, Barguna promised to return the money when there was a meeting with the Bar Guna Association. But did not return the money. Desperate, I filed a case in court.

When contacted on the mobile phone of the defendant Upazila Parishad, former vice chairman of the municipal Awami League, Md. Mojibur Rahmar, he did not receive the call.

Md. Mohsin Mia, the lawyer for the plaintiff side of the case, said that the judge of the court took the case into account and ordered the accused Mojibur Rahman to appear in court on November 21.
